While working in the counseling field since 2004, Dr. Corey has enjoyed working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She completed her doctoral work at North Carolina State University in Counselor Education and Supervision. Her master’s work was done at Appalachian State University, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling. Dr. Corey uses a variety of counseling interventions to assist clients, however, her primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This form of therapy is used to change the negative way a person thinks to then change negative emotions and behaviors.
